Selective Functional Movement Assessment
The SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) is a movement based diagnostic system used to identify dysfunctional movement patterns to find the root cause of pain - not just the source. Just because you feel pain in one part of the body does not mean that is necessarily the root cause of the pain. Can’t touch your toes? That does not necessarily indicate you have tight hamstrings. This assessment helps practitioners differentiate between motor control impairments, mobility impairments and shorten overall treatment time. The findings of your SFMA can also be used to create a preventative treatment plan and significantly improve athletic performance.
The SFMA is a holistic approach, assessing all body parts from upper neck to the ankle and foot. The results of the assessment are extremely individualized and help guide practitioners to the best treatment plan for you. Take advantage of the option to book follow up sessions with your PT to help you work towards your goals as you continue to improve!
