IASTM - Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a technique employed by physical therapists to effectively treat soft tissue dysfunctions and musculoskeletal injuries. Using specialized tools, therapists can target areas of scar tissue, adhesions, or restrictions within the soft tissues. The goal of this intervention is to break down adhesions, stimulate blood flow, and promote tissue repair.
IASTM is particularly beneficial for conditions such as tendonitis, muscle strains, and fascial restrictions. This non-invasive approach not only enhances tissue healing but also improves range of motion, reduces pain, and restores functional movement patterns, making it an invaluable component of comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
